First Savings Bank

First Savings Bank

First Savings Bank(14 Hetman Mazepa St.)

Savings Bank in Stanislaviv was the first financial institution in the city of Stanislaviv and the outskirts.
It was founded in 1867 on the initiative of members of the city council including future director of
the Savings Bank Kasel Keller, lawyer Karol Kwiatkowski, and entrepreneur Selig Rubinstein.
In 1882, the land for it was bought out for 8000 guilders, and a contest for the execution of the
building project was announced. And in 1884 at the corner of Kazymyrivska and Rohulskoho Streets
was built a fairly large two-story building. On the top of the facade were erected two sculptures –
sitting men and women, that symbolized labor and thrift.
Nowadays, the building has practically not changed its original purpose of a financial institution –
within its walls, Oshchadbank still serves its customers. And sculptures on the facade, like more than
100 years ago, remind the citizens about the necessity to work productively in order to have some
savings.
