Rukh Stadium (128 Chornovola St.)

In 1907, the City Savings Bank bought 10 morgs of land (about 5.6 hectares) behind a public park to
create the so-called Jordan Park, known also by the popular name of the amusement park. In the
spring of 1908, the park was passed on to young people for their own needs, chiefly for games and
entertainment. On July 4, 1909, the first match in the history of football in Stanislaviv was played at
this stadium. The local Revera Team lost 1-3 to the Lviv FC Chorni reserve team. Until 1939, the
stadium had been known as the City Stadium behind the Potocki Park in Stanislaviv. In 1927, wooden
stands were constructed and they were in use up to the middle of 1950. At that times, the stadium
was called Spartak. In 1956-1957, it was rebuilt, new stands were erected, and this helped to
increase the number of seats. In 1969, four towers with artificial lighting were installed. The wooden

scoreboard was replaced by an electronic one. In 1981, the stadium was renamed Crystal. And today
it bears the name Rukh. Nowadays, the stadium hosts a local FC Karpaty, formerly Spartak, which
played in the Ukrainian Premier League in the 1990s. On August 4, 2018, a memorial plaque was
unveiled on the facade of the stadium in honor of the birthday of a famous footballer and coach Yurii
Shuliatytskyi.
