Leon Grauer’s House (Bank block)

Leon Grauer’s House (Bank block(2 Shashkevych St.)

This is the second building of the Banking Quarter, which was put into operation in 1905, as a three-story stone building of Leon Grauer, designed by the engineer Jan Kudelsky. It was supposed to be a four-story electrified household with an elevator. As a result, it was constructed as a three-story and without the elevator. The only novelty in the building was the electricity, due to which the house was given the status of „the first residential building in Stanislaviv with electric lighting”. There were residential apartments and on the ground floor, various companies were located.

Today, there is located the Department of Urban Development and Architecture of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, the Subcarpathia Center of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture, the Jewelry House and catering establishments. The house is on the corner of Nezalezhnosti and Shashkevych Streets.
