Combat group ‘Krybar’ Memorial Stone
The begginings of combat group ‘Krybar’ are reaching to the first days of the german occupation. In the Autumn 1940 the military unit of the cristian democratic was created. Its leader became Cyprian Odorkiewicz ‘Krybar’ who took his psudonym after first letters of his own daughters names- Krystyna and Barbara. Part of these troops where transformed in April 1943 into VII grouping of the Area I Home Army – ‘Śródmieście’. During the Warsaw Uprising VII military group was fighting at the Powiśle area. By an order dated on August 5th 1944, three main Uprising forces at Powisle- III Grouping ‘Konrada’, ‘Military Service of Protection of the Uprising’ and VII Grouping joined their forces together creating combat group ‘Krybar’. Three times it tried to conquer the building of Warsaw University. On September 6th after Powiśle failed, soldiers of ‘Krybar’ fought on the Nowy Swiat Street and around Streets Warecka and Górskiego. Combat actions of the group were reinforced by ‘Kubuś’- combat vehicle of their own production, and armored transporter ‘Grey Wolf’ previously called ‘Jaś’.
