Memorial Stone and tribute to Slovaks
The stone at th Miroslaw Iringh’s Square commemorates Slovaks- heroic soldiers of the 535 home army troop. They fought during the Warsaw Uprising on the streets of Czerniakow from 1st August till 23th 1944 in one of Group ‘Kryska’ troops. Their commander- Miroslaw Iringh nickname ‘Stanko’ was borned in Warsaw in slovakian-polish family. He was a journalist and photographer. For his accomplishments he was awarded with the order Virtutti Militari and after his death-with the Order of Poland Revival and the order of Ludovit Stur. Full cooperation between Slovaks and Polish Underground State started in the middle of the year 1942 straight after appointing Slovakian Conspiracy National Comitee. The Comitee was formally subordinated and bound (with military oath) to the home army. During the Warsaw Uprising the troop took part in battles for Belveder, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and the Church at Łazienkowska street. The troop had many soldiers from different nations in it. The Memorial Stone commemorates ensign Miroslaw Iringh and his subordinates and it contains inscriptions in Polish and in Slovak.
