ul. Solidarności 85 – December 11th 1943 – the Nazis executed 40 Poles.
Around 40 men from Pawiak were executed at Leszno 5 Street. The execution was performed near the place of shooting from October 26th1943.
In October 1943, Hans Frank issued a regulation in order to fight the attacks which aimed at the reconstruction of the General Government. On its behalf, each person who tried to hinder the reconstruction had to be sentenced to death. Due to this regulation, the specific courts were constituted and authorized to sentence people to death. The decrees were executed instantaneously. The regulation entered into force on October 10th1943, and was provided with short commentary that the German police is authorized to shoot each dubious person on the street. The Nazi terror reached its climax. The city streets were swamped by numerous roundups, the escalation of violence and executions. The main aim of these actions were to quench the flame of Polish patriotism and fighting spirit. Near the nonexistent tenement at Leszno 3 Street the Nazis killed around 30 hostages.
