Monument in Memory of the Fallen Polish Pilots in the Second World War (Pole Mokotowskie – “Mokotów Fields”, from the side of the Łazienkowska Tract next to the Central Statistical Office- GUS)
This monument commemorates over 2,000 Polish pilots killed in aerial combats of the Second World War. They were from the Polish Air Force divisions in France and Great Britain. The monument was unveiled in 2003. The place is not accidental, because in the area of Pole Mokotowskie, there was an airport in 1910-1939. On the granite plate there are the names of Polish air units, the names of fallen heroes, and the quote: “Freedom belongs to those who have the courage to defend it.”
