On September 14th 1944, the Nazis executed 60 injured Poles from the Insurgent Hospital. After the Polish counterattack, the Nazis set on fire the hospital located at Solec 41 Street. The injured were forbidden to leave the building and each attempt of escape ended with shooting. The soldiers of the SS divisions watched over the building and killed every single person. On that they around 60 people lost their lives either in fire or in shooting. It was yet another step in the act of Czerniaków pacification, which was characterized by cruel outbrake of murders and rapes. The Fighting Battles “Reinefarth” performed mass executions on the Polish Underground Home Army soldiers, most of which were patients of the insurgents hospital. Moreover, it was not sole mass execution performed on that day. In the houses near Wilanowska 18/20 and 22 Street, the Nazis executed almost 200 people.
