“Here on September 29th 1944 the nazis executed 32 Poles”
Shooting 32 Poles by the Nazis on September 29th was a next act of murder commited on polish civilians. Last days of September were a slow fall of the Warsaw Uprising. All the public kitchens were being closed, food was becoming a currency, waiting for water was taking 6 to 8 hours. Prices of flour were rising up to 1200 zloties per kg. The Capitulation of Warsaw was coming near. The SS General Erich von dem Bach Zalewski so called ‘The Warsaw Headsman’, came to Warsaw hoping to get Knight’s Cross order. One of his first decision was cancelling ‘the order no 1’ which stated about extermination of the civilians. It was not an act of mercy though. Von dem Bach knew that Warsaw citizens may be used as a cheap labour- working for the Third Reich. He needed support from his superiors so he tried to make Warsaw surrender faster. He guaranteed uprising soldiers combatant rights, promised to send them to captive camps and ensured them about safe evacuation of Warsaw citizens (with the presence of the red cross). Apparently it did not stop the German forces from being violent. Extermination of Warsaw citizens continued. Near The Agrykola Park 32 Poles were killed. It only enlarged the list of crimes comitted by the Nazis on Warsaw civilians.
